Happiest Birthday to my big kid! The one who regularly risks my plates to create memories for the kids. If he was on social media I’d tag him to thank him for being a loving and supportive husband and the best and most fun dad there is. We love him! 💕
8 years ago around this time of year, someone told me I’d never be anything but a fat a** Did I believe them? No I’m way too stubborn for that. In fact, I had forgotten that comment. It hasn’t crossed my mind in years. Today I completed a 20 mile training run. That’s over 3 1/2 hours of time to think. As you can imagine I think about a lot of things during that time. It’s one of the reasons I love running. I’ve always been a day dreamer. There was never a teacher in my life that didn’t tell me to come back from la la land. Sometimes I make up stories, sometimes I relive conversations, sometimes I brainstorm ideas for blog posts, and sometimes I just think about how bad it hurts and repeat “mind over matter, mind over matter.” Today, for whatever reason that conversation from all those years ago popped into my mind. My first thought was that same body with the help of the six inches between my ears is about to carry me though a 20 mile run. (On a Thursday.) Then I thought, what if I would have let that one opinion affect me until it was true. What if way back at the beginning of my running journey I had let that one opinion dictate whether or not I was a runner, or the best mom I know, or the most loyal and loving wife there is. Lord would my life be different. @msrachelhollis always says other people’s opinions are none of your business. I see what she means. Do you? PS. This podcast episode is stellar. I dare you to listen to this and not finish your workout strong. If @colinobrady can finish the last 70 something miles traversing Antarctica in 32 non stop hours. PULLING A 300+ POUND SLED. I can make mile 20 my fastest mile instead of giving up at mile 17 when it got hard. 3 weeks 3 days until race day. Let’s do this. 26.2 #marathontraining #runnershigh #26point2 #rachelhollisxlifecoaching
I spent this week updating some decor around the house. As much as I love Christmas decorations, I’m always so ready for Spring once they come down. Anyone else?
It was hard work getting the boys to bed so Santa could come, but we managed. Merry Christmas everyone! #boymomlife #christmas2019🎄
One week til Christmas Eve! Are you done shopping? 🎅🏼 I’m done-ish. 🤷🏼♀️
I had the best weekend in San Antonio with my forever running partner (my hubby) and the one who inspired me to be a runner (my aunt) David and I finished our 10th half marathon, and I committed to running my first full marathon with my aunt in only 8 weeks! 😅 ::Luckily I’m already half trained:: ~ When I was about 9 I watched her finish her first of many marathons, and now 26ish years later she’s going to run with me in my first marathon. 😭🤗
Decorating for Christmas is one of my favorite things in life. The kids are just about done with the “kid tree” and I have a few things to add to the big tree, and we’ll be done. Do you have more than one tree in your house? I tend to be a little extra with Christmas decorations. #notsorry 🎄🎄
~2009-2019~ age 25 —> 35 for me and age 6 weeks —> 10 for Caleb. I’m just going to say it. I like a few fine lines and wrinkles... I just do. But I miss my baby sleeping on my chest.💙 #myboy #tenyearchallenge
